Analysis and Examination of Food 2011 course

Event type: Course
Location: University of Reading
Start Date: 11/04/11
Duration: 5 days
Cost: free or £895

The annual course at the University of Reading took place in the week of 11 – 15 April 2011.

This informative and very enjoyable (though demanding) week of lectures and interactive workshops is highly recommended by the APA Training Committee. It is excellent training for work in food, feed and fertiliser enforcement analysis and essential preparation for those intending to sit the statutory qualification examinations for Mastership in Chemical Analysis administered by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

The programme is on a two year rolling cycle, so those delegates who attended in 2010 will find this course particularly useful.

In the past owing to the generous sponsorship of the FSA the course was free to the first delegate from each UK Official Food Control (Public Analyst) laboratory site. It remains unknown if this sponsorship will continue and the APA Educational Trust has agreed to underwrite the costs for 2011. However should sponsorship not become available then free places for subsequent years will not be possible. If there are any spare places, these will be offered to subsequent delegates from UK OFC (Public Analysts) labs or £895 per person for non UK OFC labs or any industry or commercial labs who may be interested in sending delegates. This course will be very popular. Places will be strictly limited to 20.

Further information is available by e-mailing APA Training Officer michael.walker@lgc.co.uk. Please click here for the reservation form  and click here for the timetable. Closing date for registration is 11 March 2011 but delegates are strongly urged to register as soon as possible.

The detailed timetable and reservation form are also available on the APA website.

The APA Educational Trust would like to acknowledge with thanks assistance from the National Measurement Office Government Chemist Programme and the Analytical Trust Fund.
