CB1 - Food Allergens
The purpose of this project is to continue to build capability and promulgate sound measurement science in the detection and determination of major allergens in food.
The objectives of the project are:
To ensure that the analytical and interpretational capabilities exist to underpin the Government Chemist’s statutory advisory function and to perform confirmatory analysis of referee including supplementary expert opinion samples submitted under the Food Safety Act 1990 and Regulation (EC) 882/2004 respectively.
To develop and maintain current awareness of emerging technologies that may affect the manner in which the statutory function is discharged, specifically by exploring PCR DNA techniques and mass spectrometry based identification and confirmation techniques.
- To disseminate the outcomes to stakeholders by peer reviewed publication and on the Government Chemist website.
