Derek CrastonDerek Craston joined LGC in 1991 after carrying out research posts in electrochemistry at AEA Technology and at the University of Texas, Austin.

At LGC he heads the Research and Technology Division, which delivers work programmes associated with LGC’s role as the designated UK National Measurement Institute for chemical & biochemical measurements.  Prior to this he ran LGC's Pharmaceutical and Chemicals Division that supplied reference materials and services in to these industrial sectors. He was appointed UK Government Chemist in June 2008; a role which involves acting as the referee analyst in cases of dispute and providing advice to the UK Government on analytical matters.
